Which Plan Do I Have?
The Church Pension Fund offers pension plans for lay employees. While you were working, your employer determined the plan that was available to you.
Defined Contribution Plan
The Defined Contribution Plan is a 401(a) and 403(b) plan administered by Fidelity Investments.
- Your benefit is based on the value of your account balance in retirement.
- Your employer typically contributed an amount equal to at least 5% of your compensation.
- You were also able to contribute while you were employed, but you were not required to do so.
- Your contributions were matched by employer contributions up to a pre-determined maximum – typically 4% of your compensation.
Defined Benefit Plan
The Defined Benefit Plan is a 401(a) plan administered by The Church Pension Fund.
- Your benefit is not based on how the market is performing.
- While you were working, your employer contributed an amount to The Church Pension Fund equal to 9% of your compensation. You could not contribute.
- You receive a monthly pension benefit based on your years of Credited Service and Highest Average Compensation.
Retirement Savings Plan (RSVP)
RSVP is a 403(b) plan administered by Fidelity Investments.
- Your benefit is based on the value of your account balance in retirement.
- You were able to contribute to your account.
- Your employer may have contributed as well.
